Gender-based violence is an epidemic that destroys human rights, reverses gains in development, depletes public funding resources and devastates families and communities. Gender-based violence is a human rights issue, a public health issue, a human development issue and an economic issue. Pursuing gender equality, gender respect and gender justice are seen as the core efforts to combat gender based violence. Despite notable progress towards achieving gender equality throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States over the past generations, injustices that disadvantage women/girls and men/boys, persist and continue to undermine democracy, impede development and compromise people’s lives.
The MenEngage North America Regional Network is organized as a means to facilitate the role and enhance the effectiveness of men and men’s organizations throughout these countries in our efforts to achieve gender equality and end all forms of Gender-based violence.
MenEngage North America
Member organizations of the Global Alliance with others from Canada, the United States and Mexico are now organizing the “MenEngage North America” regional network. Guided by the principles of MenEngage, we envision this network serving the following purposes:
Develop communication systems for resource sharing and capacity building for groups and individuals at the local, state, and regional levels.
Promote collaboration among these groups on program development, community campaigns and evaluation research.
Organize advocacy for public policy and social change consistent with the collective strategic objectives and goals of MenEngage.
Select North American representation on the Global MenEngage steering committee.
The North America pages provide a space for women and men from across the region to share resources, information and experiences, engage each other in discussions and mobilise around common issues.
