Chen Kun and ALiLang have joined the campaign on elimination of violence against women, will you?

These videos are part of the ’17 man’ social media campaign (‘17 man’ means ‘being real men together’) in China. Throughout 2011, the ’17 man’ campaign engaged young people through discussions and quizzes on the theme of gender equality on Weibo, Sina , Sohu and Renren (the Chinese versions of Facebook and Twitter) as well as organized on the ground events .

The ’17 man’ campaign are part of the UN Women/Partners for Prevention project, “Engaging Young Men through Social Media for the Prevention of Violence against Women,” which aims to connect and inspire young people to take action to end gender-based violence.

In the first video, actor Chen Kun syas: "Eliminating violence needs everyone’s active participation. Anti-violence is the common responsibility of the whole society. Join UN Women for the 17 Man Project. Let’s go!"

In the second video, the pop group ALiLang says: "17 Man, be true men together! Join 1 7Man, protecting people around you, protecting people you love! Protecting everyone’s right to live a peaceful love!  We are ‘ALiLang’!"
